💡 Today’s Minimum Viable Idea

🚮 🗑️ Trash to Curb Service for Vacation and Short Term Rental Properties

IDEA: Property managers coordinate nearly every aspect of vacation and short term rental properties. Everything from cleaning to maintenance to lawn care is taken care of, but one thing that often goes overlooked is trash. Uncollected trash can severely damage reputation, experience, and optics of a property. Visitors are usually only occupying the property on weekends leaving property managers to handle curb runs and returns on their own during the week. What if there was a way to automate trash day like the other needed areas of property management?

PRODUCT: Trash to Curb Service. Offer weekly curb runs and returns to property management companies, HOA’s, and retirement communities to ensure trash and recycling are collected. Offer junk pickup and emergency trash runs. Build a route creator to group nearby properties and hire gig workers to grow into new areas.

MVP: Online platform with property management tools and simple route builder for trash runners.

REVENUE MODEL: Subscription model and ad-hoc pricing for junk pickup and emergencies.

EXIT STRATEGY: Sell to a national trash collection company at 5x revenue.

Link: Top 8 Startup Communities for Founders

Summary: Startup founders benefit greatly from joining dedicated communities offering peer support, mentorship, networking, and exposure to resources. These platforms (like invite-only groups, Slack/Discord channels, vetted Slack communities) help founders find co-founders, access talent, share ideas, and connect with investors. They reduce isolation, speed up learning from others’ mistakes, and provide practical tools (job boards, mastermind sessions, deal-discounts). The best communities match the founder’s stage, tech focus or business model and require active engagement rather than passive membership. Cost, exclusivity, and quality of interaction vary widely.

Spin: Being around other like-minded individuals and fellow entrepreneurs has been the single greatest action I have taken to grow as a founder. Most mid-size and larger cities will have some sort of startup network and I insist that you join if you are serious about being an entrepreneur. If you aren’t in a large city or just want to broaden your horizons (or even interact with the Minimum Viable Team), you can gain access to the Minimum Viable Founders Slack Channel with 3 successful subscriber referrals (your unique referral code below).

Summary: Bluesky has surpassed 40 million users and is launching a beta “dislike” feature designed to refine content recommendations by letting users signal what they want to see less of. Instead of public downvotes, the function works privately, helping tailor feeds without displaying dislike counts to others. Additional improvements include better detection of spam, off‐topic replies and incorrect content, adjustments to reply settings, and prioritization of responses from “social neighborhoods” or users you interact with often. The strategy signals Bluesky’s focus on building a healthier, more personalized conversational space amid rising competition in social media.

Spin: Even though it would go against Bluesky’s entire ‘anti-X’ ethos, I was really hoping to see public dislikes on a social media platform. It probably would have attracted every troll from every corner of the internet and turned the site into the hateful cesspool that X is becoming. Regardless, this seems a little reactive since most social media sites have already implemented something to tell its algorithm what to hide and feature. There really isn’t anything to set Bluesky apart from other competitors, or X for that matter. 40 million users is nothing to sneeze at, but that doesn’t even put them in the top 35 platforms in terms of users.

🚂 Motivation Station

🧱 Ready to run through a brick wall or do you need an extra push?

Today’s motivation comes from a recent Y Combinator Startup Podcast episode featuring the founder of CaseText, Jake Heller. Heller built the AI legal startup from conception to its $650 million acquisition by Thomas Reuters. It’s stories like these that make me feel like I can do absolutely anything and I hope it can do that for you as well. Just remember: it all starts with a single idea.

Adult Dinner Assistant

IDEA: Easily the worst part about being an adult that no one warns you about is deciding what to make for dinner every night. The decision paralysis has me seriously considering Taco Bell more often than I should. I definitely did not give my mom enough credit for putting together something delicious every night with at least one vegetable for four kids.

We need a service that will tell us what we are eating that week for dinner and a shopping list to go with it. Have an app ask food preferences, kitchen set up/appliance availability, how often you want to order take out, etc. Then, give a day-by-day menu and recipe. This is probably become a main idea in a few weeks.
