💡 Today’s Minimum Viable Idea

🧬 AI Powered Travel Planning Based on Your DNA

IDEA: After years of curiosity, I finally sent a DNA sample to an ancestry testing company. Travel is extremely important to me and I want to go to places that have some significance to who I am. My grandmother is first generation American from Germany and my last name is very Irish so I figured those two would lead in terms of percentage, but I also had Danish, Welsh, Scottish, Dutch, and most surprising, Sardinian. And now that I have these new places to travel to, I want to get the most our of them and not just hit the biggest tourist attractions. There needs to be a travel product that lets people get in touch with their ancestral roots.

PRODUCT: Create an AI powered travel itinerary generator based on results from an ancestral DNA test. Allow users to upload their results and select different variations of countries and what kind of experience they want to have (big city, off the beaten path, etc.). Partner with lodging, air travel, and excursion companies to build the trip from start to finish and include booking and payments from the platform.

MVP: Platform for DNA result uploads and AI itinerary builder.

REVENUE MODEL: Transactional, pay per itinerary build and receive kickbacks from lodging and air travel.

EXIT STRATEGY: Get acquired by an ancestry or DNA testing company or a travel company wanting to enter into ancestral or homecoming trips.

🧊 Business Deconstructed: How to Cold DM

What is a cold DM?

A Cold DM is reaching out through a direct message (DM) to influencers or potential clients that are cold and you don’t know.

You cold DM people to grow connections and a network as well as to talk to potential clients.

Mastering Cold DMs (In 5 Steps)

Step 1: Intent-Based Research

What is your intent for messaging this person? Are you trying to get a sale? To build a relationship and collaborate?

Understand the reason then research this person and look for reasons why they would respond to you.

  • What do they like?

  • What have they previously posted about?

  • What are some problems they are facing?

Then, follow and interact with their posts before you DM. By interacting with their posts and DMing them later, you are not a complete stranger and it shows you are interested in their business.

Step 2: Crafting The Perfect Opening Line

This is the most important part of your message. You need to have a personal and short opening line that hooks them.

Get to your offer and why your business is important to them.

🚨 Startup News 🗞️

Publication: Fortune

Summary: AI-driven startups in the San Francisco Bay Area are reshaping the housing market by leasing luxury apartments for staff and offering substantial rent stipends to attract talent. For example, one startup leased eight units in a high-end complex with rents ranging from $3,000 to $12,000 per month to keep employees within walking distance of the office. Another offers $1,000 monthly if employees live within ten minutes of the workplace. These initiatives coincide with surging rents city-wide and reflect how the AI boom is combining talent wars, real-estate pressure and return-to-office trends.

Spin: So these AI companies are for real for real. The true mark of a company that has made it in Silicon Valley is when they either pay their employees enough that they can afford San Francisco or they can pay to subsidize their living arrangements. Meta (Facebook) has been doing it for a while and Google has paid upwards of $30 million to provide housing. More power to them, if they want the best talent, they have to pay for the best talent.

🚂 Motivation Station

🧱 Ready to run through a brick wall or do you need an extra push?

Today’s Motivation comes from a book about the rise and fall of WeWork and its charismatic founder, Adam Neumann. While they did blow billions of venture capital funding and crash from a $47 billion unicorn to $0 almost overnight, there is still something to learn from its meteoric growth and Neumann’s ability to sell a vision. The book, Billion Dollar Loser, is well worth the read. It gives an inside look at how the biggest startup ever took over New York real estate and how it all came crashing down.

Clean Dirt

IDEA: Kids love playing in the dirt and getting as messy as possible. Huge problem though: Dirt has all kinds of bacteria, parasites, and other germs that are harmful to children. We already solved the problem with sand, why not give kids a dirt box or even a dirt mountain to safely play in?

Create a way to rid dirt of harmful things (by baking or sanitizing in some way) and sell to playground suppliers or home hardware stores.
