💡 Today’s Minimum Viable Idea

📄 Resume Builder Specifically Tailored to Job Postings

IDEA: Applying for jobs can be exhausting. Sending application after application and not getting a response can be disheartening, discouraging, and make you reconsider whether you really hate your current job. It’s made even worse when you find out that a lot of job postings on LinkedIn aren’t even actually openings. Some companies have software that filter out applicants if your resume doesn’t have certain keywords relevant to the position. It’s a good idea to tailor your application documents, but when you are applying to multiple jobs that can be excruciatingly boring. We need a product that can create resumes and cover letters in an instant to help applicants get recognized.

PRODUCT: Develop software powered by AI that allows job seekers to upload information about their work history, education, and skills. Then, either find open jobs that fit their credentials or let the job seeker upload job descriptions. Have the system create new application documents (resumes, cover letters, etc.) with employee information tailored to cover as much of the job description as possible. Bonus points, if the system can notify hiring managers directly.

MVP: AI resume builder based on user input and job postings.

REVENUE MODEL: Freemium, several free uses before a premium plan is needed.

EXIT STRATEGY: Sell to a job posting or hiring service like LinkedIn, ZipRecruiter, or Indeed.

Find out why 100K+ engineers read The Code twice a week

Staying behind on tech trends can be a career killer.

But let’s face it, no one has hours to spare every week trying to stay updated.

That’s why over 100,000 engineers at companies like Google, Meta, and Apple read The Code twice a week.

Here’s why it works:

  • No fluff, just signal – Learn the most important tech news delivered in just two short emails.

  • Supercharge your skills – Get access to top research papers and resources that give you an edge in the industry.

  • See the future first – Discover what’s next before it hits the mainstream, so you can lead, not follow.

🚨 Startup News 🗞️

Summary: Netflix’s latest earnings letter reveals the company is fully committed to leveraging generative AI, stating it is “very well positioned to effectively leverage ongoing advances in AI.” Rather than using AI to replace creatives, Netflix views it as a tool to make them more efficient. For example, a scene of a building collapsing in the show The Eternaut was generated with AI and took about one-tenth the time of traditional VFX. Meanwhile, the broader entertainment industry remains divided over AI’s impact, with concerns around job displacement, copyright and creative control still unresolved.

Spin: So, looks like we are still a little ways off from Netflix taking our favorite shows then using AI to create us a new show based on our preferences. If that was actually happening, I would be on the creator’s side, but using AI to help make shows more quickly seems like a no brainer. Why waste a project’s budget on explosions and pickup shots when AI can do it for less money. I understand that this may feel like a slippery slope, but embracing AI could help studios getting a leg up on competing creators.

Summary: LangChain has raised $125 million in its latest funding round, valuing the company at $1.25 billion, marking its entry into “unicorn” status. The startup, built around an open-source framework enabling developers to create “agentic” AI systems that can reason, call APIs, manage memory and workflows, is gaining traction in enterprise AI infrastructure. Backed by investors including Benchmark and Sequoia Capital, its rapid rise reflects the growing demand for tools that simplify the development and deployment of complex AI agents.

Spin: 🚨 We got another unicorn. Benchmark and Sequoia, two of the largest tech VC’s in the world, backing your company has almost become a guaranteed path to unicorn-dom. Some of their notable investments that have hit the billion-dollar valuation mark are OpenAI, ByteDance (TikTok parent), xAI, Canva, Shein, and Discord. Right now, these top VC’s are obviously obsessed with AI and LangChain has their full attention. Their agentic creation system could be a great addition to small business depending on price.

🚂 Motivation Station

🧱 Ready to run through a brick wall or do you need an extra push?

Today’s Motivation comes from the StartUp podcast from Gimlet. Specifically, the episode that follows the employees as they deal with burnout. Exhaustion is going to be part of the entrepreneurial journey and not just for those in charge. However, it is good for founders to be aware of. The culture will trickle down the company and if you take care of yourself, your employees will too.

Quilt Technology for Comforters

IDEA: Quilts are amazing. They’re heavy, soft, and keep you at the perfect warmth for sustainable couch potato sessions. One problem: they’re always somehow about one foot too short for full coverage needed for a good night’s sleep. I would pay an outrageous amount of money for a comforter that is the same weight, softness, and coolness of a quilt. Bonus points for handmade.
